Cinema promotes historical, modern Tehran

TEHRAN -- Two historical and modern sides of metropolitan Tehran have been depicted in a feature, which will soon be ready for screening.
Production of “Tehran Searching for Beauty”, which is comprised of two episodes, has been sponsored by the Tehran Municipality.“Tehran Tehran” episode directed by Dariush Mehrjuii has been set in Tehran’s historical districts, Deputy Director of the Art and Cultural Organization of the Tehran Municipality Hadi Monabbati told the Persian service of Fars on Friday.
“Featuring middle-aged and elderly people who participate in the restoration of Tehran’s historical districts, Mr. Mehrjuii’s episode takes place in a lively, cozy, and fresh atmosphere,” he added.
Pantea Bahram, Qorban Najafi, Mahtaj Nojumi, Farideh Sepah-Mansur and several other actors star in the 70-minute episode of “Tehran Tehran”.
“The Final Solution”, the second episode of the 115-minute feature, has been directed by Mehdi Karampur.
“‘The Final Solution’ concentrates on the younger generation and their concerns, and how they would defend their national dignity if it becomes necessary,” Monabbati said.
Rana Azadivar, Sorush Sehat, Borzu Arjmand, Tannaz Tabtabaii and Farhad Qaemian are the main members of the cast for this episode.
“Tehran Searching for Beauty” was to be a trilogy, but the third episode remains unfinished following the death of its director, Seifollah Daad, in late July.
However, some sequences taken by Daad have been used in “The Final Solution” and producer Mohammad-Ali Hossein-nejad has dedicated “Tehran Searching for Beauty” to the memory of Daad.
Monabbati expressed hopes that the film would premiere at the 28th Fajr International Film Festival, which will take place in Tehran in February 2010.
